REST & REVIVE
The 2025 FCC All Church Retreat will take place at the Loyola Retreat House in Clinton. We will experience a time away from the hectic pace life as well as a much needed pause in our weekly life cycle following a busy holiday season. The retreat will feature times to learn and grow through presentations. There will be ample time for creative endeavors and just times of rest. The space has a beautiful chapel in which one could “sneak away” to for some quite contemplation. One can also “get away” to nature by walking the beautiful grounds which includes the Stations of the Cross. Plan on participating in this All Church retreat and learning how to say “no” to the culture of now!

This retreat will center around the book “Sabbath as Resistance by Walter Brueggemann. In the book Brueggemann writes that the Sabbath is not simply about keeping rules but rather about becoming a whole person and restoring a whole society.
Brueggemann calls out our 24/7 society of consumption, a society in which we live to achieve, accomplish, perform, and possess. We want more, own more, use more, eat more, and drink more.
Brueggemann shows readers how keeping the Sabbath allows us to break this restless cycle and focus on what is truly important: God, other people, all life.
Sabbath as Resistance offers a transformative vision of the wholeness God intends, giving world-weary Christians a glimpse of a more fulfilling and simpler life through Sabbath observance.
