All ages are invited to join us January 10-12, 2025 at Loyola Retreat House in Clinton, OH. Registration begins on October 6th.
Join us January 10-12, 2025, for an all-church retreat. This retreat will center around the book “Sabbath as Resistance” by Walter Brueggemann. In the book, Brueggemann writes that the Sabbath is not simply about keeping rules but rather about becoming a whole person and restoring a whole society. Brueggemann calls out our 24/7 society of consumption, a society in which we live to achieve, accomplish, perform, and possess. We want more, own more, use more, eat more, and drink more. He shows readers how keeping the Sabbath allows us to break this restless cycle and focus on what is truly important: God, other people and all life. We will have at least one guest speaker, Rev. David Long-Higgins, the UCC Heartland Conference minister, and sessions focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual rest. We plan on having five sessions, games, movies, music, worship, crafts, quiet reflection, and prayer time.
Our retreat will take place at the Loyola Retreat House in Clinton, Ohio. Rev. Dan, Wendy and Anne will be offering the programming for all ages. Each room has two twin beds and a sink with shared community restrooms and five meals are included for a cost of $175/ person. Plan on joining us for a weekend of rest and connecting with your church family. If you would prefer not to spend the night, you are more than welcome to come during the day, Saturday. The cost will be $50/ person. If you would like to come and need help with scholarship funds, please contact Dan, Wendy or Anne and we can help with that. Registration begins Oct. 6.
