2022 Budget Shortfall

The budget committee has worked diligently since October to develop a balanced budget for our church which includes wage increases for our hourly staff following 4 years of none. It also provides money to hire a replacement Youth Coordinator and boost our Custodial services to match an increasing expansion of our ministerial and mission activities. During a routine inspection of our Atrium fire Sprinkler System significant NFPA Code deficiencies were discovered that need to be addressed in this coming year and we are still dealing with increased costs associated with the ongoing Covid – 19 restrictions and protocols. Again, we have experienced a drop in pledges and in numbers of giving units when compared with 2020, although not as severe as in 2021.
Significant cost reductions have been made and approved without making substantial cuts to our major ministries. These will be addressed in full when the budget is presented to you about 2 weeks before our annual Congregational Meeting which is scheduled for January 23rd for your final approval. The I&E (Investment and Endowment) Committee has approved the transfer of $11,000 to the budget. Committee and Board chairs have approved Transfer back to the church operating budget from their restricted funds totaling up to $48,860. We are grateful for their stewardship and sacrifice.
Final review of our budgetary plans has revealed a $20,000 shortfall. We have therefore, suggested the Establishment of the “2022 Faithful Gift Fund”. We have been given seed money of $2,500 to begin the growth of this fund.
We ask you, our church family, to pray that our ”2022 Faithful Gift Fund” will be funded enthusiastically so that our budget can be balanced quickly. It is planned that if the fund is oversubscribed that all funds collected above the required $20,000 will be deposited in the Restricted Funds Reserve account to replenish its balance.
